              Women of the Present

In honor of Women's History month, AMG asked two of our writers to
pick out a few women who they think students 50 years from now will be
studying. Here are their choices for the future class of women in history:

Rebekah Maple: Condoleezza Rice, Sarah Palin, and Hillary Clinton
Condoleezza Rice
She is the first black woman to be Secretary of State, and she holds the
highest position in a presidential cabinet that any black woman has held.
She is a woman of integrity, honor and intelligence. She is also
accomplished in the arts as a pianist.

Sarah Palin
She was a woman vice presidential nominee and speaks to America
without the skew of politics as usual.  She is a well rounded individual
who has the people's best interests at heart.  She believes that people are
who matter and shows that through her beliefs.

Hillary Clinton
Current woman Secretary of State and also ran for president.  She has an
extensive law background and has sat on the board of many large
corporations.  As Secretary of State, Clinton became the first former First
Lady to serve in a president's cabinet.

Tomi Afolayan: Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters
Barbara Walters
Barbara Walters is probably the most recognized woman in news and
special reports. She has been very influential; as co-host on The View; on
Today; on 20/20, on ABC Evening News and recently on ABC World News
Tonight.  She was also the first women to be named co-anchor of a
network evening news program and is a great example of a woman who
has progressed despite the discrimination that she likely experienced.

Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey speaks to women from all over the world through
Television, movies, books and radio.  She is also leads in various
philanthropic efforts, human rights efforts and political activities.  She is
the epitome of the American dream; a person that went from a poverty
stricken background to becoming the first African American woman
billionaire.
