By: Deepti Dhir Now that summer is here, and you have some time away from your school routine, you might be wondering “What if?” What if you could meet a great leader, could air your own cooking show on the Food Channel, or be part of a Broadway Musical? Then what would you do? Athena is here this month to present you with these very questions, and hopes you will have some fun discovering your own answers. So, what if you… 1. Won the lottery? a. Spend it on a trip around the world b. Save it and spend it on special occasions and emergencies c. Buy gifts for your family and friends, and use the rest as you need it 2. Were stranded on a deserted island? a. Remembering scenes from Castaway, construct a raft and attempt to sail for home b. Explore the island, creating a map, stocking key supplies and noting the danger spots c. Be hopeful that help will arrive and head to shelter 3. Won a free ticket to Europe? a. Board the next available plane to a European city b. Buy guidebooks and maps, marking destinations and checking hotel rates c. Make it a group outing, inviting friends, and letting them help plan the trip 4. Became part of the circus? a. Be the trapeze artist- you want to learn all those cool flips and jumps b. Be the clown- you can make people laugh and remain safely on the ground c. Be anything you are told- you just want to say you were in the circus 5. Were asked to be on a talk show? a. Yes, how completely exciting! b. When? You need to prepare and be ready to step in front of the camera c. Why not, you are not busy, and it would make everyone you know proud 6. Had the option to live on Mars? a. Pack your bags, Earth is old news b. Make lists identifying the ups and downs to each planet, and see which is better c. Wait and see if other people are heading up to space, and then decide 7. Could become any animal you wanted? a. Bird- you could fly away to new lands and vast seas b. Squirrel- if anyone tried to eat you, you could just scurry away to safety c. Dog- this homey little pet has the good life 8. Had to open a new restaurant, what food would your serve? a. Try your luck with an exciting new French-Chinese twist b. Catch up with the fast growing trend in Asian delicacies c. Serve your homemade pancakes/waffle combo, and wait to see what people think 9. Had to purchase a superpower package? a. Random-superpower shuffler- who knows what power your luck will bring you b. Three in one superpower compact for any and every magical endeavor c. Invisibility – this is the coolest one. Who needs any more? Now do some addition to see if you have more A’s, B’s or C’s. A - Air-born Aviation: Ready for an adventure or thrill, you are always up for something new and daring. B - Bubbling Brains: Methodical in your choices and planning, you get the most out of whatever you choose with all your careful thought and research.
