Awesome Smoothie Recipes!

By: Krystle Merchant

Spring is here and that means it’s time for delicious treats that’ll keep you
cool on the warmer days! Smoothies are a great option because they’re filled
with fruit, but beware of store and café-made creations. They add extra
sugar and syrup and come in cups that are twice the normal size! Instead,
here are some great recipes for fruit (and one chocolate) smoothies that you
can share with your family or friends on a Saturday afternoon…or anytime
at all! You can feel free to substitute lactose-free or soy milk or your
favorite brand of yogurt or try mixing in a different fruit than what is listed.

Banana Orange (Sara Moulton)

½ cup orange juice

½ cup vanilla yogurt

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

½ frozen banana, thinly sliced

1 cup ice chips/crushed ice

Raspberry Peach (Sara Moulton)

½ cup apple juice

½ cup vanilla yogurt

1 cup frozen peaches, sliced

½ cup frozen raspberries

1 ½ cup ice chips/crushed ice

Breakfast Twist

1 cup milk

½ cup oats (loose oats or try dry oatmeal)

1 banana, peeled and sliced

1 ½ cup frozen strawberries (whole)

½ teaspoon sugar

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Peanut Butter Chocolate

1 cup chocolate milk

1 banana, peeled and sliced

1 tablespoon peanut butter

½ cup ice chips/crushed ice

For all the recipes, just put the ingredients in a blender together and mix or
liquefy to your desired consistency. If you wan a chunkier smoothie, use
less time and for a smoother one, you may have to wait awhile depending
on the strength of your blender. Then pour into cups and enjoy!
Triple Berry Banana (Dave Lieberman)

1 cup frozen mixed berries

2 small bananas, peeled, sliced, frozen

6 ounces (average single-serve container)
vanilla yogurt

1 cup whole milk

1-2 tablespoons of honey
