         The Young Entrepreneur

By: Lydia Clark

With an economy slowly regaining its footing, finding a good job and
doing what you love can be tedious. Now more than ever young people
are looking for jobs that will help establish long successful careers.
Business owner, Stacie Nutall, is one of those young people. Stacie, a
native of Hudson, NH, is 19 and the owner of Staciecakes, a cupcake
business that she started.

Stacie started Staciecakes almost three months ago and has been filling
orders continuously since then. “I liked the whole idea of working for
myself, creating my own things, and doing something I love in the
process,” she said. Staciecakes goes beyond the traditional cupcake you
probably grew up with. With fun and exciting cupcakes like cookies and
cream, peanut butter cup, and smores, Stacie uses her creativity and
imagination to set herself apart from her competitors.

She has no official employees yet, but receives help from her mom in
running the business. And there are often perks to running your own
business. “Setting your own hours, being your own boss, and creating
what you love on a daily basis are a few of the perks to running
Staciecakes. Working at a restaurant helps too because I let my co –
workers taste my creations!”

In addition to the perks of running your own business, there are often
challenges as well. Limited space, bigger orders, increased clientele, and
pricing various items are a few challenges that Stacie has encountered
while running Staciecakes, but she is actively working through them
and loving every minute of it. Fortunately, Stacie’s business has not
been affected by the economy. “Staciecakes is actually growing and the
holiday season only adds to its growth,” replied Stacie.

There are various costs associated with starting a business. New
business owners often take out loans and use other external factors to
fund their business, but Stacie had enough in savings to purchase all of
the items that Staciecakes needed to start up.

With business going well, Stacie plans on expanding Staciecakes in the
near future. She wants to have her own store in Boston, and is pursuing
a degree in Business Management. “Find what you love and do it.
Whatever obstacles that come, you will be able to get through them
because you are doing what your passion is. I bake eight hours a day,
but I love it!” We have no doubt that Stacie will accomplish all the goals
she has set out to do. She has already accomplished so much, and
Staciecakes is proof of that.
