Athena of the Month - Corina

By: Clover Lee

Corina has been chosen for the June issue of Athena of the Month due to
many accomplishments as a runway and spread model. Corina has been
seen in the past, strutting her stuff on catwalks for designers mainly from
the San Francisco area. She has been painted by local talented artists as
well as featured in urban style fashion-forward magazines.

Corina’s slim 5 foot 9 inch figure, along with her strikingly blonde and big
blue eyes, is astounding in everyday circumstances. One of the first
questions I was popping to ask was how she remained so lithe and thin.

She smiled and said, “I DO eat. In fact, I eat a LOT. I just eat different
foots in their most raw form.” Corina is raw, vegan and is also genetically
gluten intolerant, meaning she can’t eat anything with wheat or soy. As
hard as that is to believe, she does not eat any form of bread, pasta; even
soy milk is a big no-no. Corina explained to me that she choose to be
vegan and raw not for only health reasons, but for environmental reasons
as well. For example, did you know that a third of our fossil fuels, aka.
$4.00 a gallon gas in San Francisco right now, goes into raising animals
for food? There are a ton of other interesting facts on goveg.com, Corina
told me.

“For example, in the mornings I usually have berries and other seasonal
fruits with vegan granola, sprouted flax seeds and sun flower seeds. For
protein and natural oils I usually cook with a lot of coconut oil and
believe it or not, its serendipitous that I live in the Bay Area, because
there are a lot of vegan food companies that come out with amazing
foods. Have you ever tried Coconut Bliss by Artisana?” she asked me. I
definitely had not.

Corina explained to me that modeling just fell into her path, and it wasn’t
something that she actively pursued. In fact, she started her career
during high school for extra cash and her career blossomed from then on.
She has been to fashion week in New York, Paris and Milan. She has
brushed shoulders with designers such as Valentino, Cole Haan and
Galliano. Corina has had amazing experiences at such an early age and
still remains incredibly down to earth. I’ve never been in a dressing room
with Lanvin like she has, but I can imagine that all that glitz and glamour
can easily sweep one away and bring up the standards of everyday living.
The day I interviewed Corina, her silvery blonde hair was down and she
was dressed in a simple floral print dress with flats and holding an eco-
friendly Whole Foods bag. Although very simple, I couldn’t help but stare
at how striking her facial structure was. Athena magazine applauds Corina’
s many accomplishments and her contribution to mother earth by eating
as a raw vegan.
